Overview
The solar industry relies on real-world performance and environmental data at the photovoltaic (PV) system
level to underpin design optimisation and investment decisions. However, these are limited by a lack of
understanding and quantification of the associated measurement uncertainties. This project will quantify and
reduce the uncertainties associated with the key performance indicators of PV systems and provide the
necessary metrology tools that facilitate harmonisation, traceability, and continuous improvements. It provides
standards, performance metrics, best practice, calibration capabilities and research infrastructure at the
European level to assure PV systems and technologies. These will all support the solar power industry and
underwrite its contracts that are estimated to be worth €100 billion.
